COVID-19 UPDATE 9/1/2020
Santa Barbara county is still on a "watch list" for the state of California's COVID monitoring system. A return to what we considered to be "normal" is not part of our collective foreseeable future. Our community's practice of medicine has evolved in light of this major world event, and we will continue to evolve and change policies as time goes on in order to keep our patients and our community safe.
Elective surgeries have resumed with enhanced safety protocols as of May 2020. Patients will be tested for COVID-19 prior to surgery.
We have modified schedules with patient safety in mind. This includes limiting the number of appointments to reduce foot traffic and continuing to offer telemedicine for appropriate patients.
We have implemented a strict cleaning schedule and allow ample time for rooms to ventilate in between patients.
Our entire team wears proper personal protective equipment throughout the day, and we expect patients to wear masks when they enter our facilities.
For now our best advice to stay healthy:
1. SEEK MEDICAL CARE IF YOU NEED IT
2. Wash your hands often. Alcohol-based gels work well, but so does soap and water.
3. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth.
4. Stay away from any large group or gathering. More contacts mean more exposures. Recognize that these efforts to #flattenthecurve may be to save others and not yourself.
5. Wear a mask in public. Be sure it covers your nose and mouth.
6. Preparation is better than panic. Knowledge is power. The website https://publichealthsbc.org/ has excellent information on this problem that is catered to Santa Barbara County.
7. Remember that epidemics come and go. This will be a difficult period for many, and we will suffer tragic losses, but with the community cooperating, we can save lives and get through this stronger than ever.

Insurance policies vary widely. Each private insurance company has a multitude of different plan options, making the question, "Am I covered?" sometimes a difficult one to answer.
The best way for us to verify your coverage is to provide us with your insurance plan and member ID number BEFORE your appointment. This way, our staff has the ability to verify that your doctor is contracted under your personal plan.

An inviting entry greets you as soon as you enter our office. We will be launching a retail storefront soon, offering direct access to products for all your ENT health needs
Comfortable seating is available though most patients are brought directly to the treatment room on arrival. An ADA accessible bathroom is also readily available.

Our child-friendly playroom in our reception area is currently closed due to COVID.
We offer an infant change table in our restroom for your convenience.
We offer comfortable seating, modern equipment, and space for you to bring a family member (or two) with you
Our office is fully equipped for in-office procedures in a comfortable, modern, and inviting setting. We are thrilled to offer LightScalpel CO2 laser for managing tongue and lip ties, Vivaer, Clarifix, and in-office nasal and sinus surgery.

Ample adjacent street parking is available to our patients on State, Pedregosa, Islay, and Chapala Streets. There is additional free parking available on nearby surrounding streets. Please comply with all posted street parking regulations.
There are additional parking spots available in the designated parking lot behind the office. Handicap parking is also available in this rear lot. Handicap parking is available on the Northwest corner of State and Islay Streets just beyond the building's front entrance.

The COVID-19 pandemic has upended many aspects of our lives.
Doctors, like most, have had to change how they practice. As ENT physicians, we have not been able to operate except in cases of emergency. Moving forward, we have started scheduling elective surgeries in May and beyond, with enhanced safety protocols to keep you safe.

INSURANCE UPDATE- APRIL 2020

We are very happy to announce that we are being approved on more and more insurance plans.
As of today, plans accepted at Riviera ENT include:

Santa Barbara IPA
We are actively in the application process to become in-network on a number of insurance plans. Until approval has been granted, we are still considered out of network.
You can also help to get us approved on your plan (if not listed above) by contacting your insurance company and requesting they add Dr. Culver and Dr. Tylor as providers.
Anthem Blue Cross
While we aspire to offer all patients in-network care, there are some plans that are not presently offering fair reimbursements for treating you, or they may even offer rates that actually cost us money to treat patients.

Thank you Cal Fire Riverside for publishing a reminder graphic of some common chemicals that are dangerous if mixed. Please be aware that certain chemicals when combined can lead to toxic fumes that can be very harmful to your health!
As always, keep your hands clean by washing frequently, especially when returning home from public spaces, after driving and touching surfaces in your car, after touching public doorknobs, if you cough, sneeze, or blow your nose, and before any food preparation. Keep your hands away from your hair and face. Cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze.
